    Non-Wired Nav Lights?

Yep I used to own a set of clamp on nav lights, real inexpensive and worked great. I'm sure they came from Bass Pro.

Hurricane Prep: Securing my boat & trailer

Welcome to hurricane season! It's shaping up to be a busy month for you guys. Stay safe folks, I have an office in Lakeland that looks like it is being spared the worst of it, but those North of there seem to be in for it.

    Why the carpet hate?

Yup, that's where I got mine. Best price I could find.

How many of you enjoy a decent stereo in a boat?

I used to carry a bluetooth speaker with me, but eventually I bought a cheap Pyle bluetooth headunit and speakers so I don't have to carry the speaker to the boat. It's nice every once in a while. My buddy has a redonkulas stereo in his boat, he also doesn't take fishing poles on his boat- tells...

Balancing a 12ft Jon Boat well with oversized Outboard motor (20hp)

You are getting frustrated by asking a question that has no answer. You can't make a round peg fit a square hole. Sell the motor or sell the boat or both for cripes sake and get a correct, safe setup. Or don't ask questions you won't like the answer to!! Simple man, you got the wrong setup, it's...

    Why the carpet hate?

The ultimate is both. Snap in carpet over vinyl. Although for me, I don't need the carpet. It gets moldy, it's not as durable, it doesn't last as long, it holds fish stink and god forbid I drop saltwater bait on carpet, it will stink all season. It also holds sand. When I tore the carpet out of...

How many of you enjoy a "Beater Boat?"

I don't know if I'd call mine a "beater" per se but I fish it hard and fill it with blood that's for sure. It's pretty nice but it's almost 20 years old now and I don't exactly baby it. I have bumpers for the dock but I sure don't use them often. It's a tool when it comes down to it.

Balancing a 12ft Jon Boat well with oversized Outboard motor (20hp)

Personally I'd get a smaller motor. 12 foot jon boats are usually rated to 5 or 10 hp max. 20 Horse is way too big. Not only are you gonna whip yourself out of that thing, you may damage the hull. If you do use that 20 horse motor PLEASE PROMISE you will use an emergency kill tether at all times...

Should I leave my 6hp mercury on the boat during winter months

Haha, mines hard mounted, it hasn't come off the transom in 8 years. It don't hurt the big one and it don't hurt the little one either.

Should I leave my 6hp mercury on the boat during winter months

Oh yeah, good point, make sure it's not left trimmed up at all, keep it completely trimmed down so no water holds in the lower unit or anywhere.

Should I leave my 6hp mercury on the boat during winter months

My little 6 horse kicker I leave on the boat all year, even when I store it outside in the New England winter. I change the lower unit oil, change the engine oil and then make sure good fuel with marine quality fuel stabilizer is run through her before winter storage. I've done this for 8 years...

    Seeping seams

Nice, after my own heart with your 21' Sylvan. My Profish, which is a model based on an Excursion hull is a 2004 and I love it. It would be very rare for a boat to have a livewell without remote fill and as Thill said above, the plumbing is notorious for leaking. Either way, welcome to the...

Most Seaworthy 14 Ft Aluminum Boat all models all years

I've had my 14' Starcraft in some pretty big conditions. Wouldn't call myself as well versed in so many different boats that I can call it the most seaworthy out there but it's stout.

    Flathead Lake Montana

I have always scorned pontoon boats. They aren't dry in 3 footers, they are horrible to trailer, launch and retrieve, they track horribly in a crosswind or following sea, and I have personally been on one when it "submarines". Everyone thinks of it as a big moving patio and when it's in motion...

Extend Tongue Forward or Bunks Back?

Ah yes, D rating will do it and will add some cost. If you did a lot of shopping, you probably know of this place, but I'll shout it out here for anyone else looking for tires. I have 3 dual axle trailers so I know a few things about buying trailer tires and these guys are some of the best...

Minn Kota foot control TM issue

They can be. I have never worked on a cable steer unit but I have been through my 36v Ulterra a number of times. Be methodical and keep track of your screws and such and you'll do fine.

Yeah, what motor exactly are we talking? Powerdrive I assume? Any idea what year?

    Used Jon Boat resource?

I've been buying peer to peer through Facebook Marketplace. It's really the only good use for the platform. Much better than Craigslist because there are less scams to weed through. Facebook al least offers some accountability.

    Towing with outboard

If you can tow with your motor in the full down position and your skeg isn't below the height of the trailer axle then that's the way to do it. On my Starcraft with the 25hp I just tow it like that and it's not going to torque the transom much at all. With my Sylvan and the 150hp the skeg will...

    Minnkota terrova NOISE

Tough to explain but it was my fault. This motor self-stows and lost it's home position alignment and I misunderstood how to reposition the head.
