gogittum, I agree with your take on suspension. My trailer came from a previous boat and is homemade. I did rebuild it but kept the same leaf springs. Way to stiff. However I'm in the process of getting a new trailer.

I'm looking for a consensus on which 2-part adhesive epoxy for repairing aluminum is preferred by members? I'm currently considering J-B Weld 8272 MarineWeld Marine Epoxy.

Another contributing factor could be my trailers suspension set-up. I'm not to sure about the shackle location or size and number of leafs. Someday I would like to get a new trailer. I've been looking at EasyLoaders with torsion suspension.

My tentative plan is to: weld cracks (4043 tig welding rod) and to firm up motor to prevent transom flex by using solid, non-spring transom saver and add a removable brace from motor that clamps over the rear seat.

Does anyone have a good method to secure boat contents from thieves while trailering? I pack my 14' Gregor with all my boat and camping gear under a decent cover but I worry about theft while parked and unattended.

I've since talked a boatyard owner who tells me the leads are 6 guage. I took a closer look and it appears he was right.
