I’ve had a couple of issues with marine plywood in eastern Washington. Might have better luck finding it in Seattle or Portland but, that’s a 5 hr drive one way. My original thought was aluminum and 5052 actually costs less than marine ply by the time you add the epoxy and other prep for the...

    Is a 1998 Yamaha 150 VMAX EFI or Carb'd?

Get a photo of the ID plate and look it up the parts diagram. Or go check in person. Some manufactures were switching over to EFI around that time.

I’ll also add that 0.125 aluminum is about the same weight as 3/4 plywood. It weighs less by the time you add preservatives and covering to the plywood. I have not done the math for 1/2” or 5/8” plywood but, I’m guessing that 5/8” would be a wash. The weight difference between 0.125” and...

If aluminum is out of your budget then so is Coosa. That leaves plywood. I bought two 4x10 ft sheets of fir marine plywood last spring at $600.. Cut the patterns, drilled & countersinked screw holes, then treated with a couple coats of epoxy and one coat of one part epoxy paint with grit. The...

Anyone else admit to an OOPSIE!

And I’ll bet that you still hear about from time to time. Women never forget that type of thing.

    1999 Crestliner Project

The downrigger mount looks fine. However, think I place farther from the stern. If that gap between the mount and stern were opened up a bit the lines might flow better.

Anyone else admit to an OOPSIE!

I’ll admit to someone else’s oops. A buddy pulled his 28’ cruiser out of a large local lake with the outdrive down. When he noticed that it wasn’t setting level he backed down the ramp to better center it. It broke the outdrive off and ripped a huge hole in the hull. He isn’t new to boating...

    Top speed!!!

Wow, a 12 year old thread. It was interesting to see how others were doing so I’ll add notes from some initial testing. 1. Motor: 20hp Suzuki (DF9.9B upgraded to DF20A), around a 2022 model 2. Boat: Lowe 1448M, 2023 new bare bones boat. Has a 20” transom, vee bow flat bottom jon) 3. Solas...

Nice LED (solar or USB RE-charge) spotlight

So at a million lumens when you put it against your body is light coming out the other side? I was just kidding but, it seems like a lot of photons for your skin and muscle tissue to absorb. Maybe not a good idea on a regular basis.

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

Well they work for me and they are not a hundred bucks. Anyway, just throwing alternative out there.

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

Sorry should have been more clear about which Anderson connector series. I was referring to the SB series. Push straight in, pull straight out. No twisting required. I use them in areas that are somewhat protected from the elements. The SB series run $6 to $12 per connector assembly...

    Best Trolling Motor Plug/Receptacle

Looks like a nice receptacle but, similar to the Battery Tender model, they require a huge hole in the boat. A 1-3/4” hole for this one. Same type of thing for the Cannon downrigger receptacle. The other thing that don’t care for is the twist lock. The ability to quickly unplug the trolling...

Nice LED (solar or USB RE-charge) spotlight

Maybe Minnkota should add a little solar charger to their i-Pilot Link remote. I’m always charging that thing.

20hp Suzuki - prop brand recommendations

Good to know and I may continue to ticker around with this motor and boat combination Achieving top speed in this little boat is probably my goal at this point. (But it is fun) I'm not even sure if the Sukuki 20 will stay on this boat since the kicker on the Mariner is a little tired. I do enjoy...

20hp Suzuki - prop brand recommendations

Funny how this old thread woke up. Thanks. That’s about 25% less hull to push around than mine so I can see the 12” pitch working for you. I think I’ll stick with a wider hull, however.

20hp Suzuki - prop brand recommendations

The four blade SS may very well be the way to go. I’m also open to raising the motor at bit to see if changes anything. With the current cheap 3-blade the RPM IS Ok at WOT. At hole shot the motor has to be trimmed all the way forward or the prop will lose its bite. Once on plane if trim...

    Uptick in Spam Folder Stuff?

I don’t really pay attention to them. What gets through gets reported or deleted asap. I’ll never click a link in an email to log onto my account, scan my pc for virus, etc., etc. Even if it looks legitimate.

20hp Suzuki - prop brand recommendations

Thanks, Dale. I checked out Turning Point last week based on a recommendation in another thread. They look good to me and I like their prop pitch exchange program. I’m considering their Hustler 9x10 or 9x11 three blade for the 20hp Suzuki to compare with Solas 9-1/4 x 10. The Lowe 1448M is...

20hp Suzuki - prop brand recommendations

I didn’t see that kind of performance but, I haven’t experimented much with motor height. If you don’t mind; What’s the rpm at WOT and what are the boat specs? (Length, weight, hull type.). Anything special about the configuration like a Jack plate?
