    18'-19' All-welded V-hull Tiller?

My vote would be a 20' Lund Alaskan. The 20 footer has a gigantic raised front deck, where the 16 and 18 don't. The 20 doesn't have a rear deck from the factory, but it would be VERY easy to build or get one aftermarket. Also, Alumacraft has some incredible tiller models. The Competitor and...

Black Lake NY - Big Fall Smallies

Thanks! Yeah, I kind of drifted away from forums for a while. Honestly, I kind of got fed up with the internet as a whole and boycotted it  But this site is one of my favorite communities of people!!! And besides, I've got three aluminum boats in my back yard that all need some...

Black Lake NY - Big Fall Smallies

I fish up here every year ... and it just keeps getting better. This particular trip I decided I would focus completely on catching big smallies. It was late October and I had the entire 11,000 acre lake to myself. Can't beat that! https://youtube.com/watch?v=Ok-f5El1jUQ

    Black Lake, NY: June 2016

I spent the week at Black Lake, NY with my family and had a fantastic time! The first few days of the week were cloudy and a bit cool, but after that it was all sunshine, white clouds, and low wind. Absolutely perfect. As for fishing, you have to remember I had three kids in the boat...

    Lake Erie - HOLY COW

I like the etecs a lot. I have a 90 on my pontoon and can't say enough good things about it. Lots of power, smooth, good on gas, and super easy to winterize.

    Lake Erie - HOLY COW

I was in Cleveland for a wedding, so I booked a one day trip with a charter captain. It was just him and me and now I know what all the Erie hype is all about. Here is a short video of the day. j1XQD7tFEm0

Thoughts on added cost to buy boat with livewell already?

Definitely get the one with the livewell. Even if you never keep fish, you can use it as a cooler or extra storage. And if you have little kids like me, they can use it for a toilet. Don't laugh ... it's saved a few trips.

    SMOKER CRAFT

Is it new or used? What type of water will you be fishing and what type of motor will you put on it. Generally Smokercraft makes a good boat. Not the best, but far from the worst. I think they are owned by the same company that makes Sylvan, Starcraft, and maybe a few others.

River Fishers - I Need Your Opinion

If you are close to planing out, just goose it for a few seconds to bring the bow down and then cut back on the throttle. The boat should stay on plane. Using a big trim tab mounted to the boat itself would help keep the bow down, but it would also create a ton of drag .... you'd feel like you...

Examples of questionable customizing a Tin Boat

I would totally fish out of that boat with flames. Then I'd spend $40 to paint it and re-sell it on CL for twice what I paid

Help with my first boat project.

Sounds like you have a great plan! JB Weld will work, but having it welded would be better. For seating, you can install multiple flush mount seat bases and move the seat and pedestal around however you want.

silly question Install bolt to deter motor theft

As long as you won't be removing the motor on a regular basis, bolting it on makes a ton of sense. Not only does it deter a thief, but it will be more solid on the transom and cut down on some vibrations.

Dumb newbie question: how big water is too big for a 14' v?

Just last week a fisherman fell out of his 14' tin boat on Lake Ontario. His body was found two days ago. https://www.610cktb.com/news/2015/06/10/body-found-in-lake-ontario Lake Ontario is big and cold and can get nasty fast. That doesn't mean you can't safely fish it from a small boat...

Jeep Cherokee Upgrades New pics 4/23/2014

I used to play with Jeeps too. I had a Comanche and a Cherokee that cost me a lot of money, but boy was it fun!! The kids didn't really like wheeling so we do more camping and fishing now, and the Jeeps have all been sold

need ideas for "on-board" rod storage in my 2002 Lund

Like you said, the side of the console is your best bet. If you build the holders yourself, you can squeeze 4 and maybe 5 holders on there instead of 3. Here is a pic of one of my old boats with "rocket launchers" around the console. You can see how much wasted space there is between tubes...

    Bedliner painted boat bottom

I agree with everyone ... bedliner is for trucks, not boats.

    "Previous Owners" Suck.

I LOVE this thread! I'm always telling people to "get it welded" "do it right the first time" "don't cheap out" Blah blah blah But the transom on my own boat has so much 5200 dabbed on it looks like it's got the measles. It doesn't leak though

    A serious decking question?

As a general rule, guys who buy beat up old tin boats and fix them up themselves are cheaper than dirt. It's highly unlikely that you would sell too many mail-order deck parts. HOWEVER, if you are looking to drum up business ... advertising your shop's ability to do boat-related work might get...

    Painting my grab rail black

If the rails can be easily removed, you could get them powder-coated. That would look great. Rustoleum sprayed over a good self-etching primer would work nicely, as was mentioned. If you use bed liner, just be sure and scuff up the rails really really well, paying special attention to all...

    Discount Boat Accessories

Local stores like Cabelas and Bass Pro usually have a bargain cave or something .... occasionally you can find something you need there at a good price. You can also find used stuff on eBay and craigslist, but that can be like hunting a needle in a haystack.
