You can get bottom paint at any good marine supply store but I used Rustoleum over two coats of primer. DO NOT use latex paint. It's water based and after exposure to water, like in a lake, will at some point, peel right off. Stick with oil based paint. Let it cure in the sun for a few days...

    14' Mirrocraft Deep Fisherman rehab

I've had excellent results using West Marine G Flex 65. You can get it from them or amazon, It is a two part epoxy. You mix it, put it on the outside area and use a heat gun or propane torch on the inside. The heat draws the mixture down into the crack creating a forever seal. This is made...

    PVC gutter bunk cover question

OK Here's the bunk cover question as I understand it. Yes, carpet will absorb saltwater and corrode your boat. Mine are vinyl coated for that reason. But when you go to retrieve a boat on a ramp, the boat is level in the water and the trailer is on a downward angle. When you bring the boat up...

Help hole in boat how would u fix

First, I would run the length of the hose and see there are any metal fittings touching the aluminum. If there are, you have to isolate them. That foam insutation sold for water pipes would work but its kind of big. Next, inspect the interior of the stern to see if the corrosion is spreading...

    Tiny Tinny

I'm going to put re tractable wheels on mine. I have 2 $4 wheels from Harbor that I'm going to use. Going to Home Depot and getting two 3 ft. pcs of aluminum angle iron for the supports. Mounting them on the stern with the vertical flat sides facing each other 1 and 1/2 inches apart. I have some...

On my boat, I couldn't get one solid piece of wood under the flanges and across the whole back. i couldn't get the brace off and the sides of the boat were rounded so the wood had to be semi circular. Taking the corner caps off wouldn't have made any difference. What to do,what to do.Reasoning...

I'm glad you did that. I did the same thing. That motor was made by ESKA, and they have been out of business since 1987. Its's nearly impossible to find parts as Eska used a Tecumseh lawn mower engine on them. Yep, It shocked me too. They are air cooled and prone to breakdown. It could well be...

That's a good price but it doesn't look like a Johnson to me. Get the model number to be sure. There should be a plate on the transom clamp. I can't recall Johnson making a 7 hp. Look on this site for a guy named "Pappy" and click on his name and you can e-mail him. He's a retired Johnson...

    Going back in time

Back when I was in my teens and cars had fins, there were advertisements in Outdoor Life about a trolling fin that you clamped to the transom of a small boat. It was shaped like the fin of a fish and you moved it back and forth to propel your boat. Anybody have or remember there things?

By all means, stain first. I used walnut on mine but Home or Lowe's has a variety to choose from. I used Rustoleum Marine polyurethane spar varnish over that. They have 3 sheens. I used gloss. I would G Flex the rivets and bad areas first, you only need a drop or two on each rivet. The heat...

Installing a permanent fuel tank. How to?

What I meant was that putting in a permanent tank under a seat might be dangerous. Perhaps you could go to any boat dealer that sells pontoon boats and see how the tanks are mounted and where they are put. No offense intended
