    New EPA fuel tanks

O.K. Our government at work. Years ago we had "pressure tanks" for O.M.C. outboards. They were deemed dangerous as when the tank heated up in the sun, they pretty much turned into a bomb. UNLESS you opened that little valve to relieve the pressure. Now fast forward 30 years or so and along comes...

mid to late 60's 9,9 sea horse

Those older Johnsons are bulletproof, and yes, you can still get parts for them. If you go to MarineEngines.com , you will find everything you need. All you need is the model number. I rebuilt my 15 hp. 1955 Evinrude using parts from them. #1 make sure you hear it run before you buy it. At least...

    New bunks and bunk wrap

My bunks are 8 ft long and made from regular 2x4's. I covered them with polyurethane covers that were pre-formed to fit a 3 1/2 inch wide 2x4 exactly. Got them at Mikes Trailer supply in Homosassa Florida. You should be able to get them by you too.

My beautiful boat has transom rot

3 Years ago, I replaced the rotten plywood transom boards with 3/4 inch pine board as I thought it wouldn't rot. Today I went out to run the 55 Evinrude and get ready to take the boat out. That's when I discovered that the board inside had rotted to the point it was crumbling. I varnished and...

    Transom wood advice

When I did mine, I used pine board. No plywood for me. I used 1x8 for the transom and 1x12 for the outboard support.

alumacraft fd, paint and i have a question

Yes, Rust oleum is the way to go. You can spend more but you won't do any better, in my opinion. And yes, I painted it yellow. Camo and flat green is boring as are many other traditional boat colors. When people go to the lake, they'll see dozens of white, blue, and grey boats but only ONE...

alumacraft fd, paint and i have a question

No need to remove all the old paint. Just give it a light sanding. I re-did my 14 ft semi-vee too. I used Rustoleum bare metal primer letting it dry in the hot florida sun between coats and then painted it with Rustoleum paint. I used a brush and roller too and it turned out fine. 3 years and no...

    1969? SEARS 12 FT SERIAL # QUESTION

I wouldn't go larger than a two stroke 15 hp or a 10 hp 4 stroke. The 4's are a lot heavier. Also, the serial number should be on the title somewhere.

    Adding hatch over batteries

How about just to the rear of those two folding seats? Make or get drawers on rollers and put them under the deck with vertical doors so you can slide them out for maintenance.

    Adding hatch over batteries

How about moving the batteries for ward and using the spaces for storage. It will move some weight and help to trim out the boat.

Show me your cooler setups in your boats

Since you are going to put a deck in anyway. Get a cooler twice as big as you think you're going to need and cut out the deck so the cooler sits flush with it. If you cover the deck with carpeting, cover the cooler lid too. That's it, easy breezy

Is Buffalo Park still there? I fished the Fox around there all the time in the 60's

Best way to prep trailer for paint.

I used the good old fashioned aluminum paint people used on chain link fences. About $15 a gallon. Sanded all surfaces and put 3 coats on it. Hardly use a pint.
