Man this stuff is finicky!
I purchased 4 metal hatch lids from Nate's Hatches for my 93 Lund Tyee restoration with the intention of using cheap "Seadek" from Amazon. I have installed the 4 hatches and here is what I learned:
For my metal hatches I simply wiped them down with acetone to prep the...
I took up some limited baking during the COVID years. Sourdough, Cinnamon rolls, etc. Like others, I love my box smoker and enjoy it during spring, summer, and fall. After reading this thread, I am drooling for Airshot's perch....
I had a Bayliner "bass boat" in the late 80's and had an accident that I definitely contributed to. I was on Lake Sammamish in WA. and the wind wind was whipping up whitecaps so I turned for home and was kinda banging through the heavy chop. I decided to speed up to try riding high in the chop...
Quality Control. I bought a "new to me" Chevy Tahoe in May 2024. It was what I was hunting for: a AWD SUV with a gas V8. I refused to anything from the Covid years or later. My Tahoe is a 2016 with 81K on the clock. Drives very well for its age and I feel the quality is far better than almost...
Those things are key for me too. At 66 with a few balance issues, I find 25" gunnels, stability, and protection for both me and my passenger insure a good day. My dual console deep V is a great all around boat that squarely leans towards fishing
Those deck boards in the pics look like mine did when I pulled them. You will LOVE seeing new pretty decking. BTW, I like that boat. Very similar layout as my Lund Tyee. I have always liked dual console walk-thru designs.
I've done that very thing on a brand new boat deck in my boat that turned into a complete rip and replace for the boats interior. Being cognescent of my grade school competency, I chose wisely with "hide-ability" in second place in terms of "must haves"
Me too. 12 years ago I had a quad bypass. 90% occluded in 2 and 70 and 60 the other 2. I weighed 250 then. I lost 73 pounds and started working out again. Still eat meat but like chicken too. I like my pork BBQ'ed with cabbage and 'bama white sauce
I wondered the same thing as I proceeded through a complete refit on my 93 Lund Tyee GS 1850. If you are familiar with the Tyee, there is an elevated casting "insert" that covers the walkway between the port/SB consoles. I wanted to make the entire front casting deck permanent so I lengthened...
Frankly, I would go Plywood. Because of your weight, my suggestion is what I did with one change:
Go AMERICAN marine 1" plywood and add 3 coats of lightly thinned epoxy on all 6 sides--use a very short napped roller. Then, add a complete field of glue to the face boards and glue on 1/4" DENSE EV...
Those deck boards got a combination of 4200FC and a specific adhesive from Loctite. I completely covered the EV with adhesive and then flattened it. I have 2 small pieces left to go and my upholstery phase is done. My PVC has a muted "snow camo" pattern and the surface is heavily embossed. These...
Hey to the collective wisdom...
I am in a bind on my Lund Tyee restoration. Its not the end of the world but I would really like to source a 1.25" high full offset piano hinge with leafs that are 1.5" wide. Ill take 24" up to 72" just to have this hinge. Most of my decking is 1" thick and I can...
Just my .02 cents but boats are all very different and are constructed in similar but different ways. It sounds like your dad's boat was aluminum so that is possibly a good start. This forum, the Lund Transom Replacement page, and the University of YouTube will help. Do you have mechanical...
There are always the 3M adhesives but they are 25-35 dollars a tube. I JUST got done completely replacing the entire interior of my 1850 Lund Tyee. That was a ton of work and glue/staples. I found the Loctite RED tube "Ultimate" construction adhesive at Home Depot and used 14 tubes on the boat...
