Hey guys! New member but ive been watching the site for a few months now. I bought my boats around 4 months ago and Ive been using it the way it is for the time being but plan to completely redo it this winter...just wanted to throw some pictures up to let everyone know what I have and maybe get some suggestions on where to start.

Like I said, I bought the boat about 4 months ago as a package....
Boat - 14 ft. Mirrocraft
45 lb. thrust BPS trolling motor
7.5 70's Mercury that was said to have ran the previous winter when the sheer key was replaced [-X no sirry it didnt!
Homemade trailer! With "working" lights...they were regular trailer lights that looked like fishtanks because they were still holding water!
Oars, anchor, ropes..etc...

I payed 500 for everything and the guy gave me 100 back when i called down to BPS where the sheer key was replaced and pulled the service report and in big bold letters it said LEAK BETWEEN CASES.

So long story short i got everything for $400...dont really think it was a bad deal.

Last night I bought a used 80's J/E 25 horse tiller for $350

Alot of information for one post so ill stop here!

:WELCOME:

Thanks for joining!

Shame on you for waiting months to join! :LOL2:

Start by filling it with water to see if and where it leaks from the bottom.

Try to get some pictures of the inside if possible also.

Motor looks solid from the pics!

How handy are you? Are you planning on gutting it and replacing everything new? That is the route I would go if you have the skills.

Gut it, fix the leaks and make a nice level floor with a small elevated deck. Simple, safe, comfortable.

im a carpenter, my dad owns a construction company and my brothers a mechanical engineer!
I think we got the handy part down! haha

Not only was I planning on gutting it, I have to! The deck and framing are treated! Luckily the deck was put on last winter the guy said and hasent seen any rain so I have time to get to it before the eating away of the aluminum starts.

Open floor plan with plenty of storage and a small casting deck upfront is what I am thinking! I am going to go down to the aluminum and repaint as well...and rename. lol. I forgot to ask him what happened to FISH BASKET 1!

I already bought a fish finder for it, Garmin 140.
I want to find a nice bow mount trolling motor and get rid of my transom mounted one and get a nice cheap 2 speaker stereo for those long days waiting for the perch to hit!

Going to start the project as soon as the water freezes!

Sounds like a great deal. Just an FYI. That motor is a '76 or earlier model.
'77 and later models w/split gearcase have CD ignition. Yours does not.
You may want to check the model number plate to find out
the year just in case you need parts.
Enjoy!

starting to take her apart this weekend! thinking of stripping down the trailer first and redoing the boards and seeing about new rollers and some guide poles...having such a small boat/trailer combo makes it a pain backing down the docks...figured the guides might help! New rims, tires, paint, lumber and carpet to start!

will take pictures and post ASAP!

Look for the posts about using a ladder stabilizer to make your own guide poles. Much cheaper than buying them. I plan to try it soon as well.

I have always been a flat bottom fan but the more I look at projects like this the more I want to get my hands on a v bottom to play with too. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
