I have just bought a 14’ V hull Jon boat and I want to modify it some what so it will be more comfortable to fish out of. It is only 4’4” wide at the widest part and I have read that if they are not at least 5' at the widest point they will be too unstable to close in the front all the way and put in a pedestal seat. Is that true?
I would like to know the best way to attach the plywood to the aluminum gunnels on this boat because you do not have any holes to access the underneath of the gunnels where the seats are clamped on the gunnels. I know that I could use a hollow wall fastener or use self tapping screws. I could also cut access holes where I could bolt and nut the plywood down. I just want to be sure that the plywood don't get riped up from the gunnels when you lean back in the seat. Can anyone give me some input on how they have attached the plywood to the seat gunnels?
Thanks
