I was wondering exactly how sturdy these boats are when it comes to standing up? If I got the 1542 I would like to put a casting deck on the front with a pole seat up all the way, not like halfway. Would this be reasonable to do? I use to have a 10ft pelican bass raider and I could stand up in that no problem if the water was calm. Would there be a huge difference between the two?

If you have a choice, definitely get the 1542. It has 25% more floor space than the 1436, which is significant.

But, if you have to get the 1436, you can still put a deck up front with a pole seat .... it will just sway a bit more than the 1542, but its not the end of the world. Try to build the deck as low as you can without sacrificing too much walking around room.

You'll be fine with the 1542. I have a 1442 with factory raised deck and my son and I both will stand up there sometimes while jigging for crappie. My son will stand on the deck by me or behind me allot of times while fishing. I am 6 ft, 225 lbs. and my son is 5' 11", 185 lbs. and we have no problem.

I can and often do stand on the very edge of my tracker 1542 at 200lbs. The boat barely moves. Very stable platform. For the small difference in price get the 1542 and don't look back.

Those big pontoons on the Pelican did a good job of keeping it afloat. I could stand on the sides and not flip it over, but it got rocking pretty good when some big waves came through. And It only took a 3.5 hp motor, which is the reason I sold it.

There is no comparison to the Pelican. I have an 8 ft Bass Hunter Bass Baby and it is very stable also. With that said when the wind and waves get up the Bass Hunter stays home. I have fished in 20-30 mph wind nearly every day for the past 2 years. Wind has blown in west Tn like I have never seen in my 51 years. The Tracker gets blown around but the wave action is no problem even on large waters other than getting pounded to death when trying to run. That is true with any flatbottom however.

I have a 1644 MonArk that I decked half way and had no problems at all. In fact, I'm in the process of raising the deck up another 5 inches(top of seat level) and don't expect to be any different as I have stood on the seats last year and everything was fine. Take the boat out for trial run and stand on the seat to see for yourself if it will be acceptable. Good Luck.

Alright, Decking it halfway up would probably be the best. I just hate fishing sitting down, I really cant stand it. Not as much fun setting the hook sitting down compared to standing up above water level.
