probably 25 - 35 mph depending on load and prop size/pitch.

I have a 1756 with a 40 yamaha. I have not had it on the water yet and I am dying to take it out and see what it will do. Hopefully I will pick it up this afternoon.

I have been asking the same question and everyone is telling me 32-35mph. I would think you should go at least 35mph.

From 1996-2000 I had a welded 1650ish (maybe 1648 maybe 1652 can't remember) Astro made by Landau with a 2 stroke 40 tahatsu and it would fly! I never gps'd it but it felt like 50mph. Probably more like 40 in reality. It had no floor, just an open hull with a very basic Alum center console.

40 should be about right.
I can go 20 with my 20hp Johnson on my 1655 Lowe.

Wow that seems fast. What would it do with a 75 I am looking at the 1655 lowe and am trying to determine how much motor I would need to be satisfied.

The 1455 is rated for a 50hp. If you are after the 1655 I wouldn't go with anything less than 60hp. Its rated for a 75hp but if you are looking to save some money I bet the 60 would be a good choice.
