Hello everyone, i just recently joined the forum. ive been checking out alot of the members builds and its awesome to see different styles and variations that every one comes up with. With that said i have started my own project. I bought this boat last year and used it the way i bought it. For my first boat it seemed to do all of the fishing i wanted to do. (2 nights a week, sometimes more). After more and more time i spent on it, i started to notice all the little things, corners of carpet peeling, numerous holes drilled in the dash for who knows what switches. The plywood was warped in some spots the live well was half @$$. So i decided to gut it and start with a clean slate. In regards to the sub-frame ive seen some of them built with aluminum some with wood. Personally i havent made mind up, i have some aluminum angle, about 65 feet or so of 1x1x1/8. Whats everyone's opinions on the deck plywood? 1/2 , 5/8 or 3/4?

Thanks guys for the comments,Ill keep that in mind DaleH, thanks . Camo paint is staying lol i dont do any duck hunting, and im not so sure there is another color out there that would help the fish jump in my boat. I did work on it for a few more hrs this fine easter. Boat is completely empty. Now the fun part begins.

Hey your Starcraft looks almost exactly like mine. I have a 1973 Starcraft 14 Mariner. It is a side console like yours but is 14 ft 6". Mine had plywood laid on the floor and a box with two seats and that was it. I've gutted it and am starting fresh. I need to properly introduce myself and post pics but could not help comment on your Starcraft. I want to use aluminum angle for framing interior structure also. Been hunting the scrap yards with not much success. I want to put a mega-ton of foam floatation in mine also.
Please keep posting, thanks,

Dave dude

20150413_202455.jpg20150411_150347.jpgThanks Davedude Good luck on your build as well. So its been a while since ive posted anything, the weather was crappy for a few days and i dont have the luxury of working inside on this project. Once the weather broke i decide to turn my attention to my trailer while my boat is completely gutted and very light. I stripped the trailer down of all the bunks, rollers and winch and used the herculiner bedliner kit and applied it to my trailer. As that was drying i bought some new wood for bunks, sealed them and re-carpeted them. Here are some pics.

Looks great. Just picked up a 1967 16' Mariner V. I was considering moving the console back to the rear of the boat like that. Did you experience any problems with that? I couldn't figure out why the console was so far forward anyways. I guess to give it a runabout feel or something. Or could have been for weight and balance if a person was going to operate the craft solo. If you have any ideas or suggestions on the topic, please reply. Nice looking rig by the way.
