Okay folks I have the following boat-
1995 Tracker Sportsman 18 -
This riveted jon boat is 17.75 feet long and weighs 320 (pounds dry). This weight does not account for passengers, fuel, or gear. The beam of this craft is 70 inches. The max horsepower for this boat is 40 hp .
(Basically a much more lightweight and riveted version of the Tracker Grizzly with the same V front)
I'm looking at real nice 1958 18 HP Evinrude tiller. Is this enough motor for my 18ft jon boat? I know in most cases it would be no but this boat is only 320 lbs and riveted. It will be used some on Truman Lake Resevoir but mostly on the Osage River and it's back waters.
I know folks say to get the max HP motor but I don't think trying to handle a 40 hp tiller would be much fun on a riveted jon boat. Then again I've always ran flat bottoms and this V hull front looks like it will handle much better.
