Hello all! I'm new and just started my journey restoring (or doing more of a retro-mod) of a tin boat. On Thanksgiving weekend I procured a 1957 Lone Star 14' King Commander and began immediate work to get it to at least a "show" quality for a surprise to my daughter. We've been bank fishing all year and she has aspirations of participating in the Texas High School Bass Fishing Tournaments when she get to HS. To make sure this is what she really wants to do, I'm starting out smaller with a v-hull jon boat to fix up and build the way we would like to do it. The video below is the work I have done so far and the surprise Christmas morning for my daughter. We'll be doing this together and posting more videos/pics as the work continues. Sometimes it may be small steps, sometimes big chunks of the project.
Christmas Surprise Boat
The boat has already been modified, including some of the bow components already gone forever. My goal is to make this a fishing boat for her, so I'm not going full restoration to it's original glory, more of a bass jon type project. I look forward to reading up here in the forums and I appreciate all the help from those who've already made this journey!
