1992 rivertrail 150

So I bought a new to me boat.
Its a 1992 rivertrail 15ft flat bottom. Its 42 inches wide.
I really didnt need another boat but I thought it was a good deal. I can flip it for a couple hundred more if I dont like it.
I paid 1500.
Bought it because my other boat is really old and I got a good offer on it. I didnt want to be without a boat lol

Has titles for boat motor and trailer. Its been garaged it whole life and has no leaks and the transom is solid.

Outboard is a 30hp yamaha in great condition. Good compression and looks new. Brand new prop and water pump.

Only issue was wiring, it was a mess, a 24 pack with some friends and we rewired everything. Everything works now.

Im a little scared, I have never had a flat bottom and this boat is not very wide. Its 42 inches wide.
You guys think it will ride well? I only fish by myself or 1 other person.
Also how fast do you guys think the 30hp will push it?
Anyone have something similar?

30 hp on a 15 ft jon?
seems a bit much to me.
flat out into a stiff wind may flip it.
jon's hitting wave or heavy chop tend to beat you up.

Well see, ill will be testing today.

Its rated for 50hp which sounds unsafe. 30 seems like a good match.

Windy days - definitely have to slow down. But it is great fun to open her up when the water is smooth!

Thanks man, really appreciate your insight.
Tested it at the lake today in the worst possible condition.
Winds were over 15mph and the water was really choppy.
Boat ran great and the ride was not bad. I expected worse.
The only reason I fisb is to bond with my son
