1996 Mercury 15HP long shaft in the marine shop

I just phoned the shop that is working on my motor, and they informed me that the motor is leaking water into cylinder #1

Now they are having to pull the head to see if its a block, head or gasket issue.

This means more time off of the water for me

Anyone ever had anything similar happen? First for me.

I know, me too!!! I only gave like 600 for the motor 2 years ago. I hope its not gonna cost too much to get her back running or else Im buying a newer motor with more power.

Id say a 25-35 HP motor would scoot my little boat on down the line pretty good!!!

Some type of water return hose gasket. It was leaking water into cylinder #1. They have had to order the gasket from Mercury. As of Friday they were still waiting on the part......

Ive got cabin fever so bad..... I wish I knew of some places to bank fish....LOL

WOOT!!!! I just got a call from the Marine shop. The parts that they had to order just came in. They are getting started on putting her back together! Hopefully Ill be back in business this weekend!!

WOOO!!!! HOOO!!!! Got the ole motor out of the shop today!!! Tested it out runs great!!

Going out on Sunday for some fishing!!!! I should have a good report.

whj812, when you say water was leaking into the cylinder was it coming out where the spark plug is?
