I believe they did. To my knowledge the only manufacturer that used an all aluminum hull with no wood was Duracraft, which is now out of business, the name and tooling purchased by Team Ward (War Eagle).
I think Duracraft patented the design, calling it the "dura life" hull, if I remember correctly. Please correct me if I'm wrong here. I used to sell them. HATED drilling the transom for motor mounting; as most of the time we had to drill right through the END of a lateral aluminum reinforcement inside the transom; and the drill would try to walk around it, which egg'd the hole and helped cause leaks. I always wished they "drilled" them at the factory with an end mill just for that reason.
