Just for the record there is a poster on page one of this post in a Grizzly getting 27 mph. Not sure about his grizzly but the new ones hull weight is 500lbs alone. Something is wrong with this Theoretical top speed with these motors! Merc recently developed a new prop and that may be what they are putting on these who knows?

Well if he is running lets say a 12 pitch prop at 6,000 rpm then 27mph is very likely. That is if the motor can get that high of an RPM with a 12? That I do not know, but with a light setup it is very possible. but with a 10 it is just not possible on that particular motor.

Really, hitting 30+mph on that motor is not impossible if it has a 13-14 pitch prop and the motor has the umph to get the rpm to around 5800-6000 with it. That would mean a fairly light setup or a speed design hull probably.

Yup I did indeed hit 27 once. I run 25/26 with just me in the boat. Checked with fish finder, and two different gps units. I usually have 1 cooler, with a couple drinks, 4 spinning rods, 1 battery, 3 gallon fuel tank. 1 tackle box. 26 mph up and down river.
