Got out to my favorite private lake this morning. The forecast for the morning was iffy. The Weather Channel said that rain would be in the area by 11am, temps in the mid 40's and 'breezy'. I decided to go ahead and get a couple hours in before the rain. While I was loading the boat it was calm and pretty warm so I only wore a light rain jacket. About 15 minutes after launching the Crawdad the temp dropped noticeably and the wind picked up big time. Brrrrrrr, I was totally under dressed. Anyway, the wind was blowing too hard for plastics so I was throwing a spinnerbait. This girl below was a lot of fun to catch. Seems like lately all of the good-sized bass I've caught strike like 15-20 feet from the boat and the fight is very short, but not this time, I had a lot of line out when she bit... oh that was fun. I still haven't bought a scale yet so I can't say for sure how much she weighed, but at 23" the weight calculators say around 6-6 1/2 lbs. Other than that a little dink was all I managed before to catch the wind kicked up to the point I couldn't control the boat and fish at the same time.
