Well, BA's post got me thinking about people becoming friends from the forums and what not, so here is a little story about my dad making friends from one of his forums.

My dad has 4, now discontinued, Cannondale ATVs in our stable. These ATV's have a huge following, mainly because they were way ahead of their time. They were being made in the early 2000's with fuel injection, used a lot of aluminum (the oil is actually stored in the frame itself), and were pretty much the first fire breathing, race ready USA made ATV's which other manufacturers followed. One of these is a Glamis edition which only 60 something were ever made. Glamis is a huge area of Dunes in california. The ATV had sand paddles stock, Special Graphics, and the EFI map was tuned for the dunes.

My dad is a part of the Cannondale Riders forums, and is in California riding the Glamis Edition on its maiden voyage at...GLAMIS. My dad bought this ATV never ridden right out of a crate in the fall, but it had been manufactured in 2004. He is with a bunch of Guys from the Cannondale forum. He drove there with a few people from Wisconsin, only one of which he had met for about 6 hours before.

A 36 hour car ride will make you friends really quick.

Now my dad is flying home tomorrow, he can't sleep in cars and his back can't take sitting that long. So they agreed to take him to the airport and drop off the ATV on the way back since they go right past us.

Still a trip my dad will never forget, and a select few people can ever say their Cannondale Glamis was first ridden at the place it was named after.

I got some on my camera, I need to take a few pictures of things tonight, So at the latest tomorrow I will have them up.

Heres a Couple of the Glamis.

440 with EFI. The wide frame near the seat holds the oil. Sand Paddles and Ribbed front tires. The group shot is the Glamis, Speed, and Moto. The fourth one is apart in the garage, and is a Cannibal. The Cannibal is the "base version" while the others are all set up for a specific purpose (Moto=Motocross, Glamis=Dunes, Speed=Speed). The speed is the fastest for sure and is more or less a decent all around ATV and the one my dad Usually rides.
