aluminum floor or plywood?

I used 1/2" treated plywood for the floor in my last two boats. I've heard that the carpet glue is harder to get off aluminum and can be a real pain in the butt

Used aluminum is affordable, and often people scrap new aluminum, so check with a local scrapyard, to see if they sell surplus aluminum.

Aluminum!

Do it once and forget it. You also don't have to worry about keeping the thing covered 24/7/365.

gonna go aluminum, but do you paint and leave it bare or carpet it or what? gonna do a cheap generic plywood for the rest the season until extreme makeover this winter thanks for all the much needed help

I just did my floors in Aluminum. I have a 1236 Alumacraft. I went with Aluminum because my boat will be outside all the time and I only wanted to do the floor and carpet once. I was able to pick up some Diamond Plate aluminum from a guy off of craigslist for 150.00.2 sheets 1/4 inch thick 42" wide and 8ft long and one sheet 12 ft long 42"wide (they were floors in a walk in freezer).

I cut it with Circular saw and a metal cutting Blade. (Definetly were saftey Goggles)

Came out great. I will post more details and pictures in another posting.

Just depends on what you want and how it will be used.

I duck hunt, noodle catfish, bow fish and everything else out of my boats. If I were simply fishing, I would probably use a good marine carpet. Since my boats see mud, blood, fish slime, freezing water in the winter, etc., I need to be able to clean mine out easily with a water hose or even the car wash. One of mine is painted, the other has a spray in liner. I had carpet on the painted one for a while (still do on the seats). The floor was always a nasty (and dangerous in the winter) mess.

Ill be fishing and duck hunting ,will have family in it so want the floor to be safe so whats your best idea? hopefully slimy and bloody will be some ingredients on the floor :)

What I have in mine are what is the best idea for me. Paint in one, spray liner in the other. :LOL2:

You will have to answer that one for yourself for what you know it will be exposed to.

I don't know what kind of duck hunting you do or how much getting into and out of the boat you will be doing, but coating the carpet with a good coat of mud & water in freezing temps makes an absolute mess.

actually it is lighter than marine plywood, and cheaper.how much i am not sure, try looking under https://www.nyloboard.com ,if you need more info i could probably get you in touch with the right ones.

all i have to say is that is it as durable as in will it take your weight, will it sag after time, etc. It kinda looked that way to me but i dont know
