Could any please tell me what throttle control I have. I have lost my key and in need of a new

Here's what looks like the same model on ebay. Says it's a mercury L60. Have you contacted a locksmith to see if they can make a key for outboard controls?

Yes, 'Quicksilver' is Mercury band name for their accessories, oils and propellers, etc.

Take a look at the # on the ignition switch, it should correspond to the numbers here:

I did have a look on the ignition but couldnt see any # with numbers on the barrel

So as I was pulling it apart again I have come across some numbers on the barrel they read 506 2d

I went through the same thing with my Honda outboard. In my case it was key number W10 stamped on the switch cylinder.

I don't know Mercury's numbering system, but looks like 2D is one of their keys:
