After a night of chasing Striped Bass along the shore I took a quick nap and headed offshore for some pelagic species - did find one striper and missed a few more
left the Canal in Lewes, DE at 3 am sharp - headed SE looking for a temp or color break. We stopped and got on the troll as the sun poked it's smiley face over the horizon. The water temps were a little cool and after a few hours of nothing doing we picked up the lines and made a move.
Captain Vince noticed that his charts ended after a point and just contained the legend "Here There Be Monsters" We decided that since team Black Bart is all about monsters (and ball busting, but mostly monsters) we would head further out looking for that clean blue water and warmer temps. Well 80 plus miles off we found what we were looking for
We got back on the troll and two of the crew settled in to nap in the warm sun. This left the true hardcore catchermen - "Dogfish Dave" and "Sexy Mercury sucks Gas" Earl. to do the catching work.
Earl gets settled in at the helm and I chase away a pesky sea gull who had a taste for Ballyhoo. We smelled fish and not just Vince's feet - and few minutes later:
