I have a 14 foot Meyers Pro V. I want to put the batter in the bow. I have an electric start outboard, trolling motor and a fish finder. The Pro V is not big on space. I live in Ohio and is strictly a fresh water boat. I was looking at the auto parts for a battery relocation kit, but was not happy with what I saw and the nearby marina wasn't much better. Can I make my own distribution box? What Gage Battery Cable? Was thinking of using heavy gage jumper cables. Any suggestions?

Welding supply has the cable you want. It's welding cable and sold by the foot. Very flexible and a strong insulation. They sell lugs and everything. I put a lug on one end that bolted right to the bolt on the old battery terminal so I can put it back any time. I slid a piece of motorcycle inner tube over the cable to insulate the rather large connection and used a bicycle inner tube to protect other chafe points.
