Looking for aluminum bar, 1.5" thick by 2" wide as long as I can get. Any good online sources or should I stick local? This will be for runners on the bottom of a boat that gets winched over dikes often.

Local would be your best bet. The 'online' suppliers are good for small quantities, if you're in an area that doesn't have a retailer that will sell cut to size, but on full sticks (especially one as pricey as that one will be), the local supplier will usually have a better price.

I don't know where you are, but I can easily get that in 12' lengths, and one of my distributor's shows that available in 20' as well, though I don't know if that would come out of the SE location, or would have to come down from the Northeast (and have a longer lead time).

I dont know if they carry anything that heavy but https://www.onlinemetals.com/ beat the best price I found locally by nearly 70% for my angle. Add shipping and i still saved close to 50% over buying local. Its worth a check.

Im in NC. What does your supplier get for a 12' length?

AMG08...Is there a BMG metals in the area? That's where I get the best deals from. Sometimes you can get scrap peices and are at a small price..

Aluminum flat has an average cost of $20 per foot new and about 3.5lbs per foot. So lets say you added two 12 foot pieces. That would cost $480.00 and weigh 84 lbs.

Ever consider plastic?
