BRP sells marine division

Looks like BRP is selling off its marine division including alumacraft and Manitou. They will retain sea doo. Not sure what this will mean for parts availability for the brp built late model evinrudes. Hopefully someone will turn alumacraft around they we're once a great option for an aluminum boat.

Just my personal opinion but I think they got into the marine market at the wrong time. Several years back they purchased evinrude, alumacraft, Manitou, and a couple others. The marine industry has taken a pretty hard blow along with the economy in the last 5+ years and they are looking to stop the bleeding so to speak. Can't imagine what's left of alumacraft or any of the others has been profitable for awhile now. The dealer i purchased my xpress from had been a alumacraft dealer for decades and switched brands not long after brp took over. In his own words brp was too hard to work with and the quality tanked so he went looking for a new brand.

These days, most of the boat companies are owned by Yamaha or Mercury, which put their motors on them. I can see that happening with the BRP boat brands, but the Evinrude would be closed out or sold.

Also hear the snowmobile industry is in bad shape due to high prices and lack of snow. That wont help BRP either...

So he went with xpress and their sorry trailers they put under their boats?
I worked at dealership in my home town and we never put inferior trailers under our boats, it just wasn't done!

Yep. A vibrant competitive economy is a good thing for everyone and cures a lot of social ills.

I go a little nuts when one of the candidates talks about addressing "price gouging". Certainly has an emotional appeal to potential voters who won't recognize it as the way to rationing and shortages. Not that I worry because I know it is just campaign talk and is not likely to happen.

Don't forget white river marine. Think they manufacture boats with atleast 8 diffrent brand names now.

Their Mako line has gone from bad to worse and the hulls are delaminating on their owners, they also make Tracker Boats and those have issues with sprayed in foam that sucks up water, from where I sit the quality of boats has gotten worse along with the price increases way too high! Not sure where this industry is heading but afraid is can't be good!

The old mako before white river got ahold of them were good boats. Sadly it's not just the boating industry this is happening in.

see the industries they are in, I would think if they cheapen their boats them probably everything they make is cheaply made, makes sense I guess. I know for a fact that Mako and Tracker Boats are made cheap!
