Converting 16ft starcraft holiday to open bow

I had a 16 foot closed now like the picture Johnny posted way back when. His idea is very sound. The cross beam for the steering is the only forward support across the boat from side to side. There's several wooden stringers that fan out to support the how covering. Looking forward to seeing your progress with pictures.

I'd go with Johnny's advice. Take the lid off and then look at adding back something along the edges. One principle I agree with on modifying things is to never do something that can't be undone. Put that lid in your storage shed. Some day you might want to put it back....If nothing else it will make the boat more valuable when you try to sell it....
