Took a few shots tonight to see how they would turn out in the fog.

I liked the starry effect of this photo - the colors really stunk, didn't look fixable, so I didn't try more that the auto-fix button

This was taken in the dark on the path with a 8 (or was it 10) second exposure. All I did was use the auto-fix colors button for editing it.

This one I was trying to capture light trails from the autos driving by. I left the shutter open for 5 seconds and caught a few cars here. You can see the ghost of one as it was at the light for a minute. After trying for a few cars, I took a picture with the clock in focus. Since you guys talk about gimp so much, I loaded it up and layered the picture, cut out the focused clock and put it over the WAY to bright one. The colors are the same, just the focus was changed. Yeah, kind of cheating I guess, but the time is visible. :)

Wow, I really like the second one. The color tone and aperture settings are very good, Personal I think you should have focused on more then that big bridge of a walkway but I like it alot.I think you have I money maker here. It has great depth in it, what f stop were you shooting at. On the other two personal I think your aperture was to small and you have gotten to much noise off the lense and sensor. A little smaller f# would have gotten you the same twinkle and a clearer picture. Do you sell any you take or just for fun?

Nice shots! I really need to try some night photos. I've also used the auto-fix button a few times. The neat thing about Gimp, is that's it's free. Have never worked with Photoshop, and don't care to pay the price for it either.

Thanks for the kind words - I shoot purely for fun. I beleive the bridge was 8 or 10, but I'll check the camera tonight and post the right one. Some of the noise is the foggy night, but you are right, the aperture was adjusted smaller on the stoplight and lamplight - because I wanted the bark on the tree somewhat focused as well as the rest. That didn't work so well  I'll have to try some with the smaller f stop - I'd like to get a highway at night, but can't think of a good way to get the picture without getting arrested

The one of the bridge is great. Iam just not so sure about f settings and shutter speeds as of right now , just learning ,plus trying to figure out all the feachers on this new camera.

anyway good pics.

Ok, I looked up the details on the bridge shot:

Focal length - 38mm
Aperture - F/9
Shutter Speed - 8 seconds
Exposure Comp - (0.3)EV
ISO 640

The starry light was shot at F/32, 2 second shutter speed, ISO 640

The clock was shot at F/36, 3 second shutter speed, ISO 640

I should have turned the ISO down to 100/200 and reduced F stop as well. That's why I like digital cameras though... mistakes don't cost much more than time!

Thanks for the comments,

Will
