What's the problem? Just hold it up with your left hand while drill the new hole and put the bolts in with your right hand.

That's what I do to even "fine tune" OBs to V6 and 500-pounds, but it ONLY works when the lower bolts - that are in slots on the bracket - have ample room up/down to move the top bolts up or down 1 hole or so.

The OP wants to mount his engine higher and he's out of room on the slots on his lower bolts as is.

I'd have to park it under a tree, drop a line around the engine and adjust it accordingly. If the budget is tight or you're just determined to DIY.

Ok, I think I will leave the motor at the same height and just had some aluminum strips as backing support to the lower bolts. I still have to remove the motor to replace the wood in the transom so right now I think I will get the electric hoist and mount it in my garage. A cherry picker would work but storing it is not desired. Now, do I buy an engine stand or build one.

I have a 440/880 pound rated electric hoist mounted to some strut on the ceiling of my garage.

A heavy duty ratchet strap, looped across a 2x4 laid crossways above the rafters, will easily lift that 30hp. Don't need anything fancy.
