I've been trying to come up with a way to have factory looking rivets because I needed some that would be on the outside of the boat. I didn't want to do plain pop rivets.
I was afraid of dinging up the boat trying to install solid bucked rivets.
So I found online Shave-able rivets. These are used to make repairs on parts that are held together with bucked rivets. trailer folks use them regularly.
The best part is I bought a bag of them from the local RV surplus/salvage for a few $$$'s vs 40 bucks from a rivet supplier.
Anyhow, this is what they look like. Remember this starts out as, and is installed as a regular old pop rivet.
