Fish Finder Wiring

I am trying to find out if you can use a smaller battery to run your depth finder.im new to the site and this is the first boat i have owned.By the way its a1960 alumicraft jet boat. 16 ft by56" i have already done all of my mods put in a casting deck up front built a few storage boxes.motor is a 15 hp johnson.i just need to wire my new trolling motor and depth finder. any help you guys can offer would be great.

yes you can use a smaller battery for you depth finder. you can even use 2 6(six) volt lantern bateries to power it.

I ran mine off a lawn tractor battery all last year. never charged it and was still reading 12.3 volts

When I bought my sonar it was for use as a portable and came with a 12V battery about the size of a small motorcycle type. The battery is rechargable. This one is from Cabela's:
