in an ideal world, is it any advantage versus buying a longer boat?

i understand to retrofit the pods would be a solution, but for a new purchase for the same length of craft, is it a performance enhancer?

Just my opinion.....pro for longer boat is floor space.
Pro for pods is quicker on plane and sit more level at rest. The weight of the motor is not outside the footprint of the boat.

Pods also give you a step to climb into the boat from the water.

If I had to choose one or the other, you can never have enough room in a boat.
