Each summer I do a fishing camp at school. We spend three days in the classroom/outside learning about types of fish, bodies of water, learning about equipment, learning to cast, and tying knots, etc. Well we fish the last day at a pond which is about an acre at a guys house. Took my kids out there tonight just to check out the pond because I haven't been there since last summer. Fish were slamming the jigs. Couldn't keep the catfish off the black and yellow jig. Hooked one about 10 pounds and fought him to the bank, but he spit the jig while I was waiting for the net. Next catfish broke me off after wrapping me around a log. Here are some pics:
Nicholas with a couple on the cricket like jig:
Taylor was nailing them on a burnt orange jig.. every once in a while she tipped the jig with a worm - She just liked putting them on the hook and getting dirty
Taylor also got the dink of the day award:
I caught probably 25 gills on this new jig I tied yesterday:
All in all a super evening and the kids in camp will have a ton of fun at the pond in a couple of weeks.
