Gas tank repair parts

New here, sorry if this is the wrong place.

Working on a 14 foot Mirrocraft with an 8 horse 'rude.

Plastic 6 gal tank with level indicator on the hose connector.

Level indicator doesn't work. There's a small crack in the assembly that the hose plugs into, and occasionally, the motor gets starved for fuel, and I have to squeeze the bulb again to get her going.

It's a 70's motor and probably the tank too.

Are there repair parts, or do I have to buy a whole new tank?

Thanks for any ideas, planning on a complete redo of this boat after fishing season. But for now, it gets us to the holes, if a bit gimpily.

Have you taken it apart yet to see how how bad the crack is ?
it may be something that you can either fix yourself or get
a suitable replacement that will allow uninterrupted fuel flow to your motor.

a quick search on the net does not show a parts breakdown for the "fuel pickup assembly".
don't toss it out just yet.

I haven't disassembled yet. I got the number off the tank and will see if I can find parts that way. If I can find parts, I'll get 'em and install them. Otherwise, I can fix just about anything. But, I have to find a plastic glue suitable for the black plastic parts impervious to gasoline.

I fixed a plastic gas tank on a lawn mower with a gas and oil resistant adhesive I got at Home Depot. I can remember the name offhand. I'll try to find it out.
Watch CL for a new to you tank.

oh yea, I borrowed my brothers garden tiller and the danged squirrels
ate holes in the plastic gas tank......
seems the HDPE plastic is made with soy bean oil in it and the stupid squirrels think it is edible !!
I used the same fix as 2smknbrls - - - 4 years now and is still holding.
it is the Permatex ULTRA BLACK Maximum Oil Resistant which should seal the air leak.

Well, my "rough carpentry" measure of my tank pickup/level indicator was 2-3/8 X 1-3/4 for the screw holes. So, metal tank parts may be an option.

Great!

But, permatex may do the trick.

Better yet!

I can take the unit out.
Probably fix the float for the indicator, glue the crack shut.

That'll work for me.
