That is pretty cool. But I didn't see my 1994 Mercury 60/45 jet decals and I've never seen them anywhere, so I know they are rare.

I've bought two sets of stickers off Ebay for my 150 Merc Saltwater and they both peeled within a few years. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong, Dale? I clean the cowl real good, polish it as best I can, then use alcohol before application.

Sounds to me like CHEAP material was used for the decals, where they did not use UV-resistat/proof vinyl.

I also use acetone to prep the area. And now use canvas motor covers on all my OB hoods/coalings.

That could be, although I seem to remember they were very similar to the price and layout to what is offered here.

I wish I could find an outboard cover for my 2004 Merc 150, but I haven't been successful yet.

No problems there ... it sure won't be as pretty if it said 'Mercury', and may not survive trailering due to the loose fit (unless sercured with bungees) but Attwood Marine sells 'generic' OB motor covers out of heavy-duty canvas that fit sizes. I was them every season, to clena off salt spray (boats are on moorings) then spray with a UV-treatment and I get quite a few years out of them.

If I read that right, you caused your decals to peel by polishing first. Don't polish before installing your decals.

Personally, I don't typically use acetone to clean. I use Purple Power and bleach in a spray bottle, then use a cloth to get all the grime, then hit with a power washer. Dry with compressed air and a towel, and let air dry for awhile, then install the decals. They never come off, and I use Ebay decals as often as the OEM ones.

If you spray your cowls with fresh paint, wait a day, then install the decals. As the paint cures fully, it locks the decals on and they will be very, very difficult to remove. They certainly won't peel off, unless the paint isn't bonded well. Just be VERY careful to install in the right spot the first time, otherwise you will never get it to move without damaging your paint.

Eh, I've decided to just go incognito with my 150. Cowl is all sun faded, I'm not going to bother to paint or sticker it, it works fine, what do I care what it looks like.

I agree 100%! I was thinking my method of an acetone wash (one direction only!) as prep beforehand would remove any polish remnant ...

I thought that was a great site till I saw the prices, $70 plus for decals for a 40 year old motor just doesn't make sense to me.
After a few motors it would almost pay to buy a plotter and some vinyl.

Have used Garzon before for the rather elusive Glaspar compass point decals. Good people for sure and fast service.
