Im currently in the process of putting an aluminum deck in my john boat and wish to access the area under neath however i do not want to spend the money buying a factory made hatch. Im sure this is not the first time someone has attempted this dose anyone have any advise? the hatches will need to be pretty sturdy and easily hold a average sized person. any help is appreciated.

I used a Tempress hatch on my front deck. Mine's one of the bigger ones (13x23) and I'm all of 250lbs with never a question or issue with standing on it.

I see no reason that you couldn't rivet it to an aluminum deck.

Good luck!

I got my hatches from bassboy1 who runs Fish On Fabrications (site sponsor). I'm EXTREMELY happy with mine. Totally custom made to my specs, and they fit into my frames perfectly. Craftsmanship was top notch, and they ended up being cheaper than any tempress hatches I could find. I HIGHLY reccommend!!!

Here is the ones I got for my build.

Thank you guys for the quick responses! ill definetly have to check out the custom aluminum hatches. Depending on the price i may go with them however im more of a DIY kinda guy has anyone tried to build there own?

I agree with the bassboy1 recommendation also, he did my front and rear decks plus the transom. All the work is done professionally.. No pics posted yet...
