I saw this add on craigslist for a 1985 starcraft. What do you all think?

Country Dave » 31 Jan 2014, 15:44"]I know the add says firm but I don't think he will sell it for 1500. Its a 1000 boat at best.

If he is firm on his price he shouldn't say he needs $ in the ad.

Agreed.

I think it is worth the $1500. A 70hp yamaha is worth that easy, assuming it runs ok. Trailer looks ok and the outside of the boat looks good, very nice lines. I agree the inside is a project but most of us here will end up doing that anyway. Starcraft makes a good boat.

Well I guess this is as good as time as any to make my first post - I love this forum by the way. I can honestly say that set-up at that price wouldn't last 5 minutes here in the Pacific Northwest - as a matter of fact he'd probably end up having a bidding war. Let's assume that Country Dave is right and the motor is worth $500 (I think it's worth a lot more). That galvanized trailer is worth at least $400 - $500. That leaves $500 to $600 for a 17.5 foot great looking StarCraft boat - c'mon man. Give the poor guy his $1,500 and know that you still stole that boat. Good luck.

LOL Welcome aboard,

Its a riveted hull, not all welded and it needs lots of work. The trailer is in "fair" shape from what we can see. It could need hubs and spindles. I will sell you all of the 25 year old smaller HP 2 strokes you care to buy for $1500 Its a $1000 rig at best.

I text this guy last night,

I have a friend in Louisiana who if he could buy it right would go and get it. This was our conversation.

earl60446 » Today, 13:19"]So what is your point?
Were you being truthful with the guy?
Was the $1100 a valid offer or just playing games?
Tim

Well I don't know that I had a specific "point" other than the boat is still for sale and it doesn't look like the guy is going to come off his price, so I would imagine it will be for sale for sometime to come.

I mentioned in that very post that I have a friend in Louisiana who was interested "If the price was right" and that price would be $1100 or less. It a $1000 BM&T on a good day. Hope that answers your question.
