Just got my first boat

I a newbie so here's a stupid question I'm sure but to drive the boat at night what exactly do I need to have equipment wise on my boat?

Navigation lights front and rear.

Anchor light at rear if after sundown and not under power.

Spot lights might or might not be legal depending on where you are located.

Ok so I know upfront I need the green and red color lights what color lights for navigation go in rear? I live in southern California! Also if I anchor my boat up front is there that where the anchor light needs to go?

You need an all around white light on the stern of your boat, could be either side. When your vessel is under anchor you need to have the white light on and it should be visible from 360 degrees. The light should higher than the motor height so that other vessels can see it.

talons what do u mean by sips fuel is that good or bad? And Hollywood yea really like the body style too. Defiantly junk in da truck! Lol! And big wave and everyone else thanks for the lights info! Going to be looking to buy the red and green and whirs lights this week as well as some courtesy lights too

Alot of the smaller motors don't use much fuel at all. I have a 77 Mercury 9.8 2 stroke and it will go forever on 3 gallons of fuel. I usually only have to refill a few times each fishing season.

This is what I meant. That 3 gallon can should last you all day, or even multiple days.

I have a 20 HP Mercury and 6 gallons is sufficient for the entire weekend and then some.

hahaha got it! Well that makes sense! Thank u for all the input. I totally appreciate it. Is there some kind off additive I should use once and awhile in the fuel????

Only additive to add to fuel for that motor is stabil or seafoam when not running it for a while (3+ months) to keep the gas from going bad on ya. I used to have a 10hp honda and it was great on fuel, hardly used any. Stay away from any fuel with methanol in it. Use plain old 87 octane, no need to use any higher octane / more $ fuel. Make sure your water keeps pumping and oil pressure stays up, your good to go. Change the crankcase oil and lower unit lube once a year.

Make sure to add something that will take the Ethanol out of the fuel. I use stabil every time I fill the tank up. I have heard that the Ethanol will eat through the fuel lines and gaskets in those older outboards. If at the very least it will condition the fuel so you have good gas running through the motor.

Hopefully going to try and take here out this weekend so I'll post some new pics!
And yea got her pretty much how I wanted her for now.took about a week of 12 hour days! Still want to Add a fish finder and stereo and maybe some more storage in the middle bench seat! Not sure yet though. But thanks for the complements!

Hey thanks atuck593 ! I really appreciate the input about the fuel! I will be going out and buying a fuel additive tomorrow I take it since u use stabil u Recommend me I get it?

Dont use the red Stail, get the green or blue that says it's for Ethanol fuel.
