Hello everyone , I have a Yamaha V series guide aluminum boat , it's the only new boat I'v ever had so I wanted to take care of it . I found the keel takes a real weathering on the boat ramps and beach when you launch and retrieve the boat so. I looked for a keel protector but found nothing that fit the application so I made my own for cheap!
T bought a length of under ground sprinkler pipe , $ 3.00 went home and with my table saw ripped it length wise into thirds . I then got a tube of silicone and glued it to the keel , using duct tape to hold it inplace while it set I then just filed the plastic here and there and there ya go protected keel total cost $ 8.00 and it works great .
