Below is a link to what I did for headlights. They work GREAT!! No glare and light up the shallow, narrow river that I run early in the morning during waterfowl season almost comparable to daylight. The guy in the back of the boat also has a handheld spotlight, but it is rarely used. I was a bit sceptical of how well they would work, but coudn't be happier and now feel comfortable running in the dark by myself without relying on someone in the back to work a spotlight. Now, on foggy mornings they are useless but so is a handheld spotlight. I'm pretty sure driving lights are not legal, but on the river I run they are a neccessity and I've never been hassled by the DNR. If we were to ever run into another boat at 4:30 on a January morning, I'd simply be respectfull and turn the headlights off until they passed.
