Unless we have a warm night,I don't think I'll be fishing the sunrise anymore.
Brrrr, around 2C(high 30's)when I left this morning, good thing it wasn't blowing to hard, when I arrived home it climbed all the way up to 12C(55F).It was cloudy but the sun came out a bit to warm me up,wasn't doing much for the bass bite though.
I managed to land 3 little smallmouth, none over 12"s and lost another nicier one on a Xrap, man they were taking the bait slowwwww.
The cold weather affected the pickeral bite though,it made it better,I landed somewhere around 15 pickeral,in a lake where I normally catch bass 90% of the time.I lost 2 terminator spinnerbaits today,to them toothy critters. They must have been good size fish,to part me on the hook set or maybe they attacked the spinnerbait head on.

The record for pickeral here is 5.77 lbs,we all know there are bigger but thats the biggest registered. The second fish will be over 5lbs when her belly fills up a bit more.I have know idea where all these pickeral are in the summer, even when I target them I only catch 1 or 2.
Guess I'll be back on eBay to get some more terminators.

Those are some nice pickerel, they look very healthy. I was just thinking about trying for some pickerel and went out and got some lures for a particular lake. I just didn't make it to the lake.

Smallies are still my favorite but the pickeral do put up a nice fight this time of year.Gotta try some flurocarbon as a leader, wonder if 30-50lbs would be enough?

I've only been bitten off on 20lb line once, so I bet 30 lb would do the job.

Those picks seem to like the colder water/weather from my experience.

Nice catching
