Installing Livewell on my boat. I have a hole drilled from the previous Livewell. The hole is bigger than that fitting I’m using. Will this be okay?

I would do one of two things.

1: Get a sheet of aluminum and cover the old hole - weld, rivets with sealer, something. Then drill a new hole the proper size.

2: Get a fitting the proper size and a neck-down adapter.

Trying to get that smaller fitting to properly seal the larger hole is going to give you leakage headaches.

Is this on the bottom of the boat? Below the water line?

If it wasn't below the water line I would call it good. But knowing it is, my first suggestion would be to get a larger thru-hull fitting that fits that hole better.

I agree with what's been said. You are losing a lot of sealing area and you don't want it to slip and loosen up on you.

I also caution the use of plastic below the waterline. There's only one type of plastic thru hull approved for below the waterline. If it were mine, I'd buy a bronze thru hull that fits the hole and use a pipe bushing with a hose barb of the appropriate size.
