looking at transoms...(boats that is... ;) )

Is it safe to assume on small semi v's like a 14fter that if the transom is straight across its a 15" and if it dips its most likely a 20" (still 15" at the dip, called a 15/20 by some mfgs I see now)?

I am just looking at the many builds and most don't state transom depth and I find it quite interesting to compare it to my 15"

When I see 15/20 in the description of a new boat I'm think it is offered in both 15" and 20" transom, your choice.

15" for short shaft, 20" for long shaft. I prefer long shaft and higher freeboard. water coming over the stern takes a lot of 'em.

thanks this is what I was looking for, I guess the easiest way to tell from a pic of its a 15 or 20 is to look at the motor. Its pretty easy for me to tell a long shaft from a short, its a little harder to tell the transom size on some of these builds.

I know how to measure one and I know the difference between long and short shaft motors. I am well versed in that aspect, just not so much the transoms of these little boats I see here

Perch I think I get what you're asking, but I think typically if it "dips" in the back, it's the shorter , (15"), transom.

Grizzly 1448 with 16.5" transom...

Grizzly 1648 with 20" transom...
