Curious on thoughts on what is the better boat..

Have a option to buy a 2004 Polar Kraft 1860CC bit rougher shape mostly cosmetic but more of a blank canvas. needs some TLC but i like projects

or a 2010 Lowe 1860 cc for about 1,200 more but it is a more finished boat.

both have a 90HP motor.

Both a modified V

Primary use will be duck hunting and some fishing. Want the strongest boat that will last me a long time. First time buying.

Not sure if there the same hull thickness but think the Polar is .125, making it abit thicker, stronger but heavier.
The Lowe is most liking .100, not thin but wont take the abuse of the .125....you might want a lighter boat?
I'd be looking at the motors closely, 90s are pricey,new...can you service them yourself? If not its always nice to have a local dealer.

The polar kraft is probably the heavier built boat but lowe did or does offer a "hd" option on most of thier boats to upgrade to .125 hull. Both companies are still in business but polar kraft seems to be barely holding on these days. Which boat seems to have been taken better care of? What brand outboard is on these boats?

While I like a good project, and you have time before the fall duck season, don’t underestimate the work involved. Look them over very carefully. Look for alum corrosion and for soft transoms. The motor condition can also make a key difference.

I'll second this. Getting my Monark in the water has been a fiasco. Every time I work on it, I find something else that now needs to be fixed... Thankfully, I have enjoyed the process immensely, even if I do debate setting it on fire from time to time.
