Starting to plan out my build now but it will be a while before I start modifying it much. My plans for this rig is to set it up for catfish and stripers in the river. This means I fish out of the back of the boat 90% of the time I also use live bait so a good baitwell is the most important part of the build.
So ar I have taken it to work and replaced the transom with 1/4" plate and patched a few holes in the bottom of the boat. This is a very well built boat of a good heavy guage metal of the many aluminum boats I have attempted to weld this one was by far the easiest boat to repair.
Couple pictures of my new transom
This is how I intend to setup the boat, the rear seat will become a livewell using the tank you see in the pictures. Its holds about 14 gallons slam full to the top so figure about 10 gallons of useful capacity. The middle bench is still up in the air I may turn it into dry storage or may remove it entirely. Either way 2 seats will be placed in this general location for two passangers to sit and watch the poles. The front will house the fuel tank and battery roughly in the locations you see with some sort of storage as well. A small front deck will extend back just past the fuel tank.
I intend to fish out of it for atleast a few months and get a feel for it and make sure is stable enough for me before I start doing anything serious. I am alittle worried about it not being wide enough but it has taken me 2 years to find one this wide. Right now I am looking for ideas and thought on my plans, drill me a and poke holes to jog my creativity. I am a fabricator by trade and am pretty good with welding aluminum and have access to all forms of metal forming equipment at work so all of this will be aluminum construction which is another reason it will be slow. I have to purchase one piece of material at a time with it being 178$ a sheet. #-o
