I meant to post this a while ago:

Freq Degrees
83 52
200 22
455 6.5
800 12

Counter intuitive - 800 kHz has greater coverage than 455 kHz.

I have been eyeballing the Humminbird 197c DI and it lists this.

Freq Cone
200 28
455 16
455? 74

I dont understand why 455 is listed twice but that is what it states.

I don't know.

Maybe Humminbird's website walks through it?

Lowrance doesn't discuss much about cone at all. I got my info from a 3rd party testing.

The web sight was where that was posted.

Are you happy with your Lowrance? I have been looking at them and they are not priced too badly. The smaller units I would want have a lot of features.

From the manual - The 197c DI has two modes of operation:

Down Imaging Sonar and Dual Beam Sonar.

455kHz is exclusive w/ DI and pings a 74* cone

Both 200 & 455 are used w/ Dual Beam. Then 455 pings a 28* and 455 a 16* cone.

I like the Elite 5 a lot. It has lots of adjustment. The screen is large enough for split screen. I use cart / 200kHz when running and 200/800 trolling / drifting.

Came home last night around midnight on the Merrimack River. I used full screen chart in night mode and cruised back at 24 mph. Just stuck to the channel.
