Make and model ID help.

Hello all! My name is Frank, I am new to the forum. I need some help with a make and model ID and figured this was probably the place to go. I have plans to modify this boat as a fishing/duck hunting platform for my area. I've posted some pics in hopes of someone recognizing what I have. If it is a piece of history, I would rather restore it to original specs than make it a duck boat. Thanks in advance for the help. ~F

Specs:

Boat is 14' 3" long over all.
Boat is roughly 60 wide.
From what I can find, boat has no stamped make, model, or VIN.
All wood from the boat, seats and transom were removed from the boat before I acquired it, so any nailed or screwed on tag is MIA.

Many boats have the HIN in two places. I'd place a mirror under any covered area in the hopes of finding a HIN tag.

I am in New Jersey. Boat was abandoned in a local lake, friend of mine involved with the lake association grabbed it for me. I basically have nothing to research. I have done the usual Google search and looked at pictures, but haven't found anything that really stands out to me that I would make an ID off of. Really makes no difference of manufacture for my purpose, I would just hate to modify a "special" or rare boat. I can pick up another donor boat for a project and restore this one as new. Much like the rest of you, not scared of a good project lol. Thanks for the info thus far. I will grab a mirror and see what I can dig up.

About the only covered or out of site area would probably be the lip on the bottom of the seats, everything else is pretty much wide open on it, I'll give it a shot today when I get home.

You might try looking up the registration number that is on the front side of the boat in one of your photos. If it's from a lake in NJ, look for the DEM or whatever agency gives out boat registrations. Your pictures look similar to an old vintage SeaKing such as this:

I wasn't sure if NJ DMV would run a search on a reg number for me. Guess I will start there. The actual local lake keeps no record of boat info other than making sure you have a sticker (paid yearly dues) so that was a dead end. Pretty sure I am going to start measuring and cutting and get u detest shortly. Thanks for the tip and link, appreciated.

UNC DL1 Looks pretty much the same as my boat. Only difference being the transom. Assuming it is a sea-king is there anything they are known for (weak spots, problem areas, etc)? The boat itself is in really good shape minus the 4-6 different colors of paint that I will be soda blasting off. Again, thank you for the assistance. Appreciated.

You'd be surprised how courteous the DNR boat registration folks can be, especially if you are congenial and courteously asking for their help.

Give 'em a call early in the day and tell them your dilemma, with the year and number of registration. Thank them for taking the trouble.

They are mostly good folks, but get a lot of flack from some boat owners.
