Got to get out with two new friends yesterday and spend a beautiful winter day chasing river dwellers. Air temps about 40ish, water temps the same, spitting snow all day....beautiful! The original plan was to chase muskie (hey, I was out numbered) and maybe find a smallie or two.
Britt, Drew and I hit the water fairly early, and for the most part had it to ourselves, although we actually had an audience at one point. Some guys in a red vehicle sat in a field watching us fish from afar. That must have been a boring way to spend a day, huh? Britt raised a muskie that was roughly the same diameter of a five gallon bucket, but the fish didn't want to open it's mouth too wide. Just kinda pushed the lure back in Britt's face, flipped him off and swam away.
Drew hung one with a little more success and it was a beaut, just barely south of forty inches. Here's the pic of that one.
I never managed a muskie, but I did find a smallies after using my jig to clear the area of debris.
