The transom on my Lowe 1436 boat has several dents and the plywood motor mount plate is starting to come apart. I have some marine plywood that I have thought about cutting to size and mounting it over the backside (outer) of the transom with 3M 5200 and aluminum screws. This is mostly to make the transom just look better from the backend. Is this a ridiculous idea?

Don't see why its a bad idea. A lot of the older boats had wood on the outside and in. Nothing wrong with a stronger transom.
