I have an older 14ft jon boat that i picked up from one of my buddies for $200. I was interested in putting a casting deck in just from the middle seat up. I was curious though on if there is a minimum width your boat should be to put a deck in. I dont know the exact width but it seems really narrow and im really not looking to get wet on any of my outings. Any opinions or experiences would be great. I can get measurements if i need to.

the wider the bottom the more stable the boat is going to be
I wouldn't add a deck on a 1432 I would add a floor

I had a deck on my 1448 and it was very stable. My son and I used it to bow fish out of and we both were on the front deck. Both of us are over 200+ pounds each!

Get the boat on the water and stand on the middle seat and see what you think. Should answer your question on whether to deck or not.
